EuRADE Extended Advisory Group Meeting- July 7-8th 2009, Leeds, UK

[3/07/2009]

EuRADE Extended Advisory Group Meeting July 2009
Tuesday, 7 July 2009
09.30 - 17.00
Wednesday, 8 July 2009
Weetwood Hall Hotel and Conference Centre,
Leeds, UK

The July 2009 EuRADE extended advisory group meeting was, in addition to the traditionnal advisory group project steering meeting, meant as a follow-up to the summer school event held in July 2008. This first event provided an opportunity for Disabled People's Organisations' respondents to the EDF consultation to meet with disability researchers and to learn more about the opportunities for disability research. Since then, a smaller number of selected participants have developed their ideas and skills for research through online training, personal study, attendance at academic conferences, and presentation to key stakeholders.

This event targeted this smaller group - those who have developed their outline proposals for research through the capacity building process (see: Dissemination Seminar & Ressources sections)

The environment provided informal learning in a supportive group environment and included less formal presentation than the Summer School held in 2008. The focus was on supporting the participants to take the ‘next step’ towards engagement with potential research partners. The schedule were flexible to participant needs and included a mixture of discussion, group work, individual advice and expert review of participants proposals.
